“Cory has created a glorious spider’s web of high Victorian Gothic.” Cosmopolitan
I really enjoyed this book. I do enjoy novels written in a victorian style, and I found this very engrossing. There are plenty of fairly unpleasent characters as with any decent gothic novel. We follow the lives of three sisters through to old age, as they live with their fathers impetuous desicion to marry a woman he barely knows, so he can devote himself to his great work. The last part of the book is unusual, I found it slower, and slightly tedious in places which having enjoyed the book to that point so much, was disappointing, however overall a good read, and I have added this authors other books to my wish list.
